Congratulations to our consultant design director Charlotte Lewis, who has been appointed to the Design Review Panel pool.
Operating nationwide, the Panel is made up of independent, multi-disciplinary construction professionals. They provide impartial expert advice to applicants and local authorities on design issues in relation to important new development schemes and proposals for important public spaces, including significant minor applications, major planning applications and pre-application development proposals.
As stated within the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), the Design Review Panel’s feedback is a material consideration for local authorities and the planning inspectorate when determining planning applications.
Applicant panellists are assessed on criteria including:
· experience in assessing architectural design and urban design;
· reputation for designing high quality buildings and spaces;
· engagement with community stakeholders;
· specialist skills and the expertise they bring to the panel, particularly in the fields of urban design, landscape design, ecology, highways, surveying, engineering and architecture.
