Blog by Nick Jones, Regional Director (Midlands)
The classic understatement of the past 12 months is that “it’s been a mad year”. An often-used phrase, but one that can surely, in future, only be accurately applied to the period between March 2020 and March 2021!
And it was a year ago in March 2020 when I started working at Richborough Estates.
I believe I was in the office for a total 6 or 7 days before I found myself, at home, with a laptop and my cat, thinking, like the rest of you, “well, this is a tad different!”
However, unlike many of the population, I was fortunate to have a job and I set about making the best of the situation I found myself in and striving to make as solid a start as possible in my new role as Regional Director for the Midlands for Richborough Estates.
A year on, I can honestly say, it’s been tremendously enjoyable working with all at Richborough. The depth of talent is staggering, with every facet of planning and development covered, from inception, appraisal, design and planning right through to disposal along with the myriad of nuances in between, that is required of our profession.
We’ve had some ups and downs project wise but since the start of this year, the hard work that the team has put in since the pandemic started to bite in March 2020, has been paying great dividends and like the weather, the future is looking a lot brighter and hopefully like the rest of you, I look forward to a very positive and fruitful future.
