Land promoter Richborough Estates submits new planning application

We have submitted an outline planning application for up to 57 homes, half of which will be affordable, plus a comprehensive package of benefits for the village of Shurdington in Gloucestershire.

Located off Badgeworth Lane, the proposed 5.5-acre cross subsidy scheme will include 29 affordable homes, which is comfortably in excess of the standard policy requirement. These will include some First Homes, which are available to first time buyers at a 30 per cent discount.

An additional 10% of the homes will be self/custom-build properties and all the proposed homes will be built to energy-efficient, low carbon standards that far exceed current building regulations.

The package of extra benefits includes highway improvements, comprising fully delivering new traffic lights at the A46/ Badgeworth Lane junction;  a new pedestrian and cycle access onto Shurdington Road; footpath improvements along Badgeworth Lane, bus stop upgrades, and over an acre of public open space including a children’s play area. Presently, there is no alternative funding arrangement in place for these works.

Shurdington C of E Primary School will also benefit from new dedicated visitor parking within the site; a signalised crossing between the site and the school and a share of financial contributions towards local services.

The site is within easy walking distance from a range of schools, nurseries, shops and facilities as well as employment at Endsleigh Park. Cycle bus, train and road links are all within easy reach.
