We were delighted to offer Beth Hill land promotion work experience at Richborough’s Birmingham HQ recently. She’s in her final year of studying BSc (Hons) Real Estate at Harper Adams University.
Read on to find out more about her time with us:
Why did you choose to do work experience at Richborough / in land promotion?
I wanted to gain some work experience with Richborough given their brilliant reputation within the industry. I have had previous experience within other aspects of the development sector, such as with land agents and housebuilders, but I was particularly keen to gain a greater knowledge and understanding of the role land promoters play in the development process.
What did you do at Richborough and what did you enjoy?
I gained a really good understanding of many aspects involved within developments for both residential and commercial uses, from a surveyor’s, planner’s and technical specialist’s perspectives.
Being able to sit in on multidisciplinary meetings was great to gain a further understanding of aspects of strategic land such as the negotiation, promotion and disposal, whilst really highlighting the scale and importance of sustainable development.
Are you considering a career in land promotion?
Yes, it is a sector that I am keen to become involved within following the completion of my degree in June. I really enjoy the varied and challenging nature of the role and being involved in all manners of projects, including negotiations with landowners, specialists and local authorities.
