Richborough Commercial has announced the internal appointment of Matt Dugdale BA (Hons) MCD MRTPI FRGS as its dedicated planning manager, to support its exciting growth.
Matt joined Richborough as a planning manager in 2023 and has been instrumental in Richborough Commercial’s success as the UK’s first dedicated commercial land promotion company, with a portfolio that has the potential to deliver more than 10 million sq ft of high-quality development space.
This new role will see Matt leading on Richborough Commercial’s planning strategy, applications and appeals.
Matt is Chair of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) North West for 2024. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. Previously, Matt worked in-house for commercial developer and investor The Emerson Group (Orbit Developments), as well as for planning consultancies and local authorities.
Nick Jones, group director of Richborough Commercial, said: “I am thrilled to welcome Matt to the growing Commercial team to help support our journey and growth.
“As an extremely skilled, experienced and high-profile planner, Matt will support our vision to deliver the highest quality, value-driven masterplans and planning permissions that benefit all stakeholders.
“Our portfolio comprises sites in sustainable locations with identified employment need and demand from national and international developers and occupiers, with two more land promotion agreements signed in Rugby and Bedfordshire in recent weeks.
Matt Dugdale said: “Good town planning balances an area’s economic, social and environmental needs, which is exactly what we are committed to delivering at Richborough Commercial.
“I am very excited about my new role within the company and look forward to generating further growth for the benefit of all our partners including landowners, local communities and local authorities.”
Richborough Commercial officially launched in February 2023 to supply consented, build ready land for industrial and employment uses in sustainable locations via the land promotion model. Thereby assisting local authorities, landowners, developers, and occupiers short on resources to unlock new development.
The launch pioneered a better, fairer era for the commercial land market, enabling landowners to work with a partner whose interests are entirely aligned with theirs, and industrial and logistics developers or end users to acquire de-risked consented land.
