Richborough Commercial has submitted a response to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) consultation.
Prepared by our divisional planning manager Matt Dugdale MRTPI, our response expresses support for the proposed reforms to the planning system – we see this as an excellent first step by the new Labour Government.
We also suggest that there are opportunities to be even more positive, to ensure that occupiers, developers and promoters can play a more critical role in economic growth.
These include:
1. Supporting and consulting on the universal re-instatement of strategic planning
2. Introducing a new standard method for calculating employment land requirements
3. Recognising and differentiating between local and strategic ‘larger than local’ needs
4. Measuring the performance of historic and future employment land delivery and supply
5. Strengthening ‘the presumption’ for commercial development
