With the UK government focused on the delivery of sustainable new homes, Richborough has renewed its membership of the Future Homes Hub, the not-for-profit body helping the housing industry transition to low-carbon, nature-friendly homes and places.
The Future Homes Hub brings together industry leaders, key stakeholders and relevant government bodies to facilitate the collaboration needed within and beyond the new homes sector to help meet the climate, social and environmental challenges ahead. With ambitious targets set for housing delivery and by the Government’s legally binding net zero and wider environmental targets, the Future Homes Hub has various taskforces established to anticipate, identify, monitor and address the key issues and actions required to meet these goals.
Senior Regional Director, Dean Knight said: “We continue to be impressed with the mission behind the Future Homes Hub, providing a roadmap for the delivery of places and developments that are consistently low carbon, nature-rich, resilient and well designed. They also look to facilitate learning and communicate best-practice, as well as looping in SME housebuilders who ultimately need collective support to grow the industry.
“We’ve grown our in-house technical teams to be able to advise and direct our regions, landowners and consultants accordingly and create masterplans that strongly align with the lessons taken from the Future Homes Hub and we continue to sit on a number of the steering groups to advise on our learnings as land promoters, it’s a privilege to be involved and to advocate for a better future for our industry.

Over 40 of the largest UK homebuilders are signed up to the Future Homes Hub and are committed to its goals, which cover four key areas:
– driving the delivery of high-quality homes that are zero carbon ready and sustainable
– low carbon, well designed and nature-rich places
– net zero and sustainable construction methods integrated into the industry by 2050 with progress made by 2025
– rewarding businesses for sustainability performance.
