At Richborough, we aim to give early-career individuals and career changers meaningful exposure to the breadth of work involved in land promotion, helping them understand how diverse roles come together to unlock and deliver new housing.
This summer, we welcomed Patrick Conway and Raj Ramharakh for one-week placements, each gaining first-hand insight into how different teams operate and how their contributions support the wider land promotion process.
Patrick joined Richborough while exploring a career change and came away with a much deeper understanding of land development.
“Each department took real time and effort to show me how they work and answered any questions I had in great detail. I was also included in departmental and external meetings which gave a very real experience of the day to day work and the breadth of projects the team work on. Richborough has a really friendly team and I have learned so much.”
For Raj, a current A-level student, the placement was a first step into an industry he’d only recently discovered.
“The amount I learned in a week was gargantuan—from planning and technical to shadowing meetings and using tools like LandStack and AutoCAD. I had no idea how many divisions were involved in land promotion, and every team member was so welcoming and knowledgeable. I now see land promotion as a real career path.”
It was a pleasure to host them both and reminded us here how impactful early exposure to the industry can be.
