Richborough, working with Powells, has appointed affordable homes provider Bromford as delivery partner for a residential development in Shurdington, Gloucestershire.
The 5.5-acre site has outline planning consent for up to 50 homes, which was secured at appeal in August following amendments to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) that reclassified the land as ‘Grey Belt’.
Bromford will deliver 100% of the homes as affordable housing, an increase from the consented scheme, and will be submitting a reserved matters planning application to Tewkesbury Borough Council next Spring.
The development will also deliver a range of local infrastructure improvements, including upgraded footpaths along Badgeworth Lane, new traffic lights at the A46/Badgeworth Lane junction, and a pedestrian and cycle link onto Shurdington Road. Bus stops will be improved to encourage sustainable travel, while more than an acre of public open space will include a children’s play area for local families.
The scheme will also provide dedicated visitor parking for Shurdington C of E Primary School, alongside a new signalised crossing to improve safety for pupils. In addition, financial contributions will be made to support local services and amenities.
