In November, we were delighted to welcome Jack Gallagher to Richborough for a work experience placement. Jack is part-way through his Property Development & Planning degree at Nottingham Trent University and is proactively building his understanding of the industry, with placements at Richborough and other developers.
At Richborough, we work hard to give students meaningful access to a sector that can sometimes feel difficult to break into and often reliant on “who you know”. Offering hands-on insight into land promotion, planning, urban design and disposals is one way we aim to help the next generation find their footing.
Jack spent time with teams across all our divisions, gaining a full picture of how the pieces come together to take a site from opportunity to outline consent.
Here’s what he had to say about his experience:
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my week’s work experience at Richborough, gaining invaluable experience in the land promotion industry after spending time with each of the teams and regions. Everyone was extremely welcoming and happy to give me an insight into their expertise and how it all comes together to achieve end goals.
“This experience will support my further studies at NTU, helping me apply theory into practice. It has developed my knowledge and understanding of the industry and shown me the community environment that is promoted throughout Richborough.”
Huge thanks to Jack for his energy and curiosity – and to our teams for taking the time to share their knowledge so generously.
We wish Jack every success as he continues his studies and look forward to seeing his career develop.
