Our latest interview is with David Moore, a Senior Coordinator within our expanding Technical team, working across our South East and South West teams and based in our London office.
What does a typical day involve for a Senior Technical Coordinator?
Our team works to resolve issues and potential constraints on a site to reduce risks for the buyer and smooth the planning process. It could be access issues, environmental considerations, remediation requirements… no site is the same and therefore, no two days are ever quite the same either. For me, that’s part of the appeal. One moment I might be reviewing site constraints, the next I’m speaking with consultants or internal teams to help solve an issue. It’s fast-paced, but there’s a real satisfaction in seeing all the moving parts gradually come together.
What do you enjoy about your role?
My role is a balance between coordinating technical information and keeping projects moving forward which means I interface with all the different teams within Richborough and I really enjoy that diversity. You’re not just ticking boxes, you’re actively shaping how a site evolves. There’s a creative element to it, even within technical constraints, and I enjoy that challenge. I work mostly on sites across our growing Southern regions and working closely with our teams on the ground there has taught me a lot and is also a lot of fun.
What do you enjoy about working for Richborough?
One of the things I really like about Richborough is that they genuinely foster a sense of trust and autonomy with their people. It makes a big difference. You’re given the space to take ownership of your work, but you’re also supported when you need it. The collaborative culture stands out, people are approachable, and there’s a shared focus on doing things properly rather than just quickly. It creates an environment where you feel both challenged and valued, which is quite rare in my experience.
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to enter the field of land promotion?
I think “Stay curious”. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or challenge assumption. I come from a housebuilder background so I’ve been able to bring a different insight to the team here and I’ve learned new things too. It’s good to be willing to look beyond your own discipline. And perhaps most importantly for those working in Tech teams – be patient! Progress can take time, but when it comes together, it’s worth it.
How do you unwind after a particularly challenging project or day?
I like to clear my head by getting outside, whether it’s walking the dog or time in the garden, or just spending time with my young family. I particularly enjoy playing football with my son and hearing all the new words my daughter has started to say.
