We’re pleased to see the publication of Removing the Grit from the System, the LPDF’s latest research report produced in partnership with Lichfields UK.
Last year, Richborough co-sponsored the preceding How Long is a Piece of String? research, which highlighted that major outline planning applications now take almost two years on average to determine which is x3 as long as they took 10 years ago.
This latest report asks the question of how can the existing planning application process work more efficiently?
Rather than advocating wholesale reform, the report identifies practical improvements that could reduce unnecessary delays throughout the application journey—from pre-application engagement and validation through to consultation, determination, legal agreements and planning conditions.
We’re proud to have contributed to the working group that helped inform the report and its recommendations.
