Richborough is appealing for donations of good-quality office and interview clothing to help young people living at St Basils’ Live & Work Birmingham feel confident as they take their next steps into employment, apprenticeships and interviews.
Earlier this year, members of the Richborough team helped transform an unused room at the Birmingham centre into a welcoming Walk-in Wardrobe, providing free clothing and other essentials for residents aged 18–25.
The initiative has proved popular, with many of the donated clothes already finding new homes. Richborough is now helping St Basils replenish the wardrobe so it can continue supporting young people living at the centre.
What donations are needed?
- We’re looking for clean, good-quality items suitable for young people aged 18–25, including:
- Interview clothes for men and women
- Formal office wear
- Ties
- New bedding and towels
- Clothes hangers
- New toiletries and personal-care items
The aim is to give residents a choice of appropriate clothing that can help them feel comfortable and confident when attending interviews, starting work or beginning an apprenticeship.
Supporting St Basils’ Live & Work Birmingham
St Basils works with young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness across the West Midlands.
Its Live & Work Birmingham scheme provides young people with affordable accommodation alongside opportunities to develop the skills and experience they need to move towards employment and greater independence.
Richborough created the Walk-in Wardrobe with St Basils as part of our wider commitment to supporting the communities in which we live and work.
The project also reflects The Richborough Way – our approach to creating positive, long-term outcomes for people, places and communities.
Can you help?
We’d love to hear from individuals and organisations that may be able to donate suitable clothing or other items.
