Matt joined Richborough in 2023 as Division Planning Manager for the Western Division, to advise on residential sites across the North, West Midlands and South West regions, and on commercial sites across the UK for Richborough Commercial. In early 2024 Matt was appointed as Planning Manager for Richborough Commercial.
Previously Matt was a planning consultant with roles at Indigo Planning, WSP and Nexus Planning, He advised a range of housebuilders, developers, landowners, institutions, and land promoters on residential, commercial, education and mixed-use schemes across the UK. Before that he held posts at housebuilder and commercial developer, The Emerson Group (Jones Homes and Orbit Developments) and two local authorities.
Matt achieved a Master of Civic Design (with Distinction) from the University of Liverpool, following a BA(Hons) in Geography with Planning (2:1) at Sheffield Hallam University. He is a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI) and in 2023 was Vice Chair of the North West Region, as well as a judge for the RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (FRGS).
In his spare time, Matt loves love travelling and finding new walks in the countryside with his Fox Red Lab (ideally finishing at a nice gastropub!). He also tries to play guitar and maintain a reasonable level of health and fitness at the gym, and enjoys watching F1, Blackburn Rovers FC and St Helens RFC.
