Our amazing 3 Peaks in 24 Hours team are edging closer to their £25,000 fundraising target for Birmingham’s St Basils! So, it’s a good time to recap on how all your incredibly generous donations will be spent!
St Basils will use the funding for a four-day, life changing trip to the Raymond Priestly Centre in Coniston, Lake District for around 20 of its young people. Many of them have complex needs and are at risk of isolation, social disadvantage, and poor mental health.
They will:
- Swim in lakes, climb mountains, abseil in quarries
- Connect as a group, sitting down to three meals a day together and playing board games
- Appreciate their strengths and talents
- Have FUN!
The focus of the trip is confidence building and showing the young people that they can keep pushing themselves. Achieving small goals – like jumping in the lake, or simply sitting down for three meals a day and socialising – helps build their self-belief and enables the bigger goals they once thought were out of reach start to feel possible. And that’s what sets them on the path to a brighter future.

The trip is led by Tamzin Reynolds-Rosser, Youth Engagement Manager at St Basils, who says: “2023 was the first time we took our young people on this adventure. It offers an incredible opportunity for them to be seen and hard, make lifetimes memories and believe they can do whatever they set their minds on.
“Sometimes we need to remove the plethora of other anxieties and pressures we have, to fully be able to concentrate on and overcome our fears and reach our goals. Coniston is such a place to allow us all to do just that.”
“We’re so grateful to the Richborough 3 Peakers and all the fundraisers making our next trip possible. It means the world to us, and you are all game changers!”
Here are some quotes from past attendees of the trip:
“It gave me a place where I can be myself and not feel judged as being an outsider is all I ever really knew before and my mental health since spending them 4 days has been the best it has been for ages.”
“It’s just you and the most supportive family anyone could ever ask for willing you to achieve your very best!”
“I had the chance to experience things I wouldn’t have the chance to experience in my day-to-day life.
